Charlie, Natalia, and Lily love to sit and “read” their books and now they are at a fun stage where we can point to things on the pages and talk about what we see- they love it. Their other favorite game is packing up ALL the books and moving them to different rooms of the house, I’m not a big fan of the clean-up stage with that one, lol.
Once again, their current favorites have nothing to do with the flowy-water colory children’s books I like to look at and everything to do with lift-the-flap books- their favorite thing on the planet!
Here’s the list of our current favorites!
This is the absolute favorite book of the moment! It’s the source of tears when it has to be shared, giggles when we all read it together, and cheers when we get to our favorite pages. Spoiler alert- our favorite page is the one with snack-time. The whole book is busy, colorful, and familiar. The best part is that there are a ton of flaps to lift- at least five or six on each page. Love, love, love this book!
Licorice Lane is the deliciously sweet book about Harley, an adventurous pup, and his partner in crime as they head through an enchanting candy-filled world. This is the PERFECT holiday read for kids. With candy cane capes and a cupcake on every page, you will seriously love this book! Plus, the author is a mom who wanted to follow her dream of becoming an author- and I love that;-) Read my long review here.
Goodnight Princess- Lift the Flap
Did you ever wonder what the Disney princesses do at night before bed? Well, neither did I, but here you will find out all the details. From hair brushing to who eats a snack- this lift the flap is Natalia’s favorite princess-y book. It’s an all-out meltdown if we can’t find it- that’s how special it is to our home. Your little princess will love it!
I might be getting repetitive, but you need this one, too.
Are you sensing a theme? Truthfully, this book is a little “too-old” for Mr. Charlie, but he loves to sit and read it, so I let him. There’s a scary picture of Shredder (the rat-villian- why do I know this?) that we skip, otherwise, he can read this at least ten times before bedtime.
Take the time to pour a hot chocolate and sit down to read with a little one this winter- they will love it- I promise!
